Daily exercise can cut bowel cancer risk, study suggests

Results of a new study show that active people who take exercise daily have 24 percent lesser odds to develop a common type pf bowel cancer than those who have an inactive lifestyle.

Colon cancer is known as the common type of bowel cancer and it’s affecting a considerable number of people in different countries of the world. Only in UK, nearly 36,500 people have to become the victim of this cancer and it causes almost 16,000 deaths every year.

The study has been published in the British Journal of Cancer, Feb. issue.

In their study, US researchers reviewed different sort of physical activity that include professional activities like manual work, usual free-time activities like jogging and attending gym etc.

Dr. Kathleen Wolin, the lead author of the study says about their finding, “Our study provides quite dependable calculation of those positive effects that can occur because of exercise in decreasing the risk of colon cancer.”

Diet for Children

The calories needed by a child will be far higher than the adults due to the following factors. Their basal metabolism activities are high than any stage in their life. Proteins

The requirement of proteins will be greater in childhood than in adult stage. The proteins are necessary for tissue repairs and also for tissue growth. It is recommended to supply about 14% of the energy as proteins. Food substances like milk, milk products, meats, fowl, fish, eggs, nut and cereals are very rich in proteins and these food substances should be added in diet liberally.

Stress pushes people towards heart-damaging habits

A British study says that stress becomes the cause of boosting heart-damaging behaviors in people and thus increases their risk of cardiovascular events.

Mark Hamer, one of the lead authors of the study, says: “We have found that people suffering from stress had a 50% higher risk of a heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases during the follow up period.”

In their study, the researchers followed those 6,576 people who were the part of a Scottish Health Study. The participants were provided a questionnaire that was designed to find out their life condition and general happiness with things like depression or stress symptoms and sleep disorder. The researchers classified nearly 15% people as patient with psychosocial stress.

No health benefits without physical workout

According to the latest joint, AHA and American College of Sports has announced guidelines on physical activity which states, all healthy adults ages 18-65 should be getting at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity five days of the week. However, there are additional guidelines for those 65 and older, or with chronic conditions or physical functional limitations (e.g., arthritis) that affect movement ability or physical fitness. Stroke attacks are less severe in physically active people, a Danish study says

A new Danish study says that recovery from stroke becomes if the patients were physically active before the attack.

According to the researchers, physically active people usually have less severe strokes and can recover easily for long-term.

Dr. Lars-Henrik Krarup, who led the study, says: “If you keep yourself fit, it increases your chance of a life without stroke. But still if you suffer from stroke, it will be of milder severity and you can recover soon.”

“Our findings may be implemented for future prevention campaigns, as people will be told about the useful effects of physical activity even after stroke,” said Krarup.

In their study, Krarup and co-researchers examined the medical records of 265 people who had stroke. The researchers found that all of them were able to walk without help.
