TUESDAY, April 22 (HealthDay News) — According to a U.S. study if compared to the standard treatment process for anal canal cancer, use of cisplatin before other treatments didn’t provide diseases-free survival and caused an increased rate of artificial anus procedures.
Chemoradiation
Presently, the ideal primary therapy for patients with anal canal cancer is chemoradiation which achieves a five-year survival rate of about 65 percent, according to background information in the study.
