Nanoparticles May Help Attack Cancer More Directly

Treatments for cancer used until now are not suitable for directing drugs to specific area in a body. Current technique for chemotherapy involves high concentration of drugs to be sent throughout the body to destroy tumor cells.

In an effort to destroy cancerous cells using chemotherapy, healthy cells are also destroyed causing discomfort for the patients. Sometimes, destroying healthy cells leads to several side effects for the patients. Because of this reason, many cancer patients prefer to skip chemotherapy.

Now, nanoparticles were successfully tested to carry cancer drugs to specific areas. Nanoparticles are made from carefully tested biodegradable polymer.

Short-Course Radiation with Surgery – the Best Cure of Rectal Cancer

A new research has suggested that short-course radiation tracked by high-quality surgery could be the best way to treat operable rectal cancer. Surgery is considered as the best treatment for rectal cancer but it leaves the risk of cancer to be reappeared.

It was concluded from a former study that chemotherapy and radiotherapy can minimize the risk of cancer recurrence if they are applied after surgery. But radiotherapy is not considered as a good option because of it’s a high cost treatment and the long term complications like incontinence, sexual dysfunction and impaired bowel function can be occurred in its consequences.

Ovaries are the most important part of the female reproductive system. A woman contains two ovaries, situated at the both sides of the uterus.

The function of ovaries is to produce ovum that combine with the male sperm to produce fertilized egg called “zygote” and hormones which includes estrogen and

progesterone.

Ovarian cancer occurs when cells start to grow abruptly in an uncontrolled fashion, resulting in the formation of tumor. Each year, 23,000 new cases of ovarian cancer are being diagnosed in the U.S.

On average, 90 percent of cancer develops in the epithelium, the thin outer covering, of the ovaries. Unfortunately, ovarian cancer remains undiagnosed till it has spread in the abdomen.

chemoThe medical physicians are too agonized to provide patients with deadly cancer exact information about the pros of extra chemotherapy, according to researchers.

Two-thirds of those examinations by Bristol University scientists provided no beneficial results merely indistinguishable promises of “extra time” with loved ones.

Doctors felt telling patients cure would provide merely weeks or months could “wipe out expectation”, as said by the scientists.

Macmillan Cancer Support said in a statement, “The nationwide data on continued existence times was extremely required”.
