BPA has been declared toxic, by Canada
TORONTO – Canada has declared bisphenol A (BPA) as toxic chemical compound, extensively used in food packaging, on Saturday and heading to ban plastic baby bottles containing this toxic compound that used to make it shatterproof.
“Many Canadians…have expressed their concern to me about the risks of BPA in baby bottles. Today’s confirmation of our ban on BPA in baby bottles proves that our government did the right thing in taking action to protect the health and environment for all Canadians.” Environment Minister John Baird said in a statement.
Health Minister Tony Clement explained a survey on BPA has found the chemical, injurious to health, especially for children and infants. This chemical in polycarbonate products and it can penetrate into food and beverages.
Several U.S states are also going to restrict BPA use, some manufacturers have started promotion of BPA-free baby bottles and few super stores have also stared to eliminate the products, containing this toxic chemical, from their shelves.
