Firstly, there is osteoarthritis – which is the most common. This is a degenerative condition which involves damage to the cartilage – this makes the bones rub against each other. This causes friction, giving you pain and limiting your movement. Osteoarthritis is mainly age-related, it can be treated with natural therapy and some modification in lifestyle.

The second most common type is rheumatoid arthritis – which is the most debilitating form. It starts off as an ache in the joints – then builds its way to joint deformation.Therefore, your quality of life and routine tasks are severely compromise.It occurs more in women than in men, and the symptoms generally occur over a long period.

Then there is gout – another type, which causes severe pain and inflammation,it usually starts with the big toe. More men than women are affected by gout, but there is good news – gout can be controlled with natural remedies and modifications to the diet.

34% of American Adults are Obese

The number of obese adults in America is much more than the number of those who are simply overweight in accordance to the latest statistics generated by the federal government.

The National Centre for Health Statistics has posted some numbers and according to them nearly 34% of American adults are adults as compared to 32.5% of those who are overweight. It is considered that only 6% of those could be called “extremely obese”.  The NCHS also added that more than one-third of the adult American population or approximately over 72 million people were obese in the year 2005-2006.

These numbers were generated on the basis of a survey where 4356 adults who happen to be above the age of 20 took part in this government health survey, confirmed the NCHS which is also the part of Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. These figures come from the survey conducted in 2005-2006 which is the most recent of all.

Experts warn against buying painkillers online

A UK study shows that many strong painkillers are widely available on the internet and some experts warn against the dangers of drugs over the internet.

Researchers from Edinburgh University find that in UK, there are 35 such websites as selling some prescription-only painkillers without asking for a prescription.

According to the government officials, this online purchase of painkillers can prove very harmful.

The study has been published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.

When surfing through Yahoo and Google search engines, the researchers noticed that there were nearly 100 selling drugs to consumers in the UK.
