It is quite natural to think of improving the memory and to look out for ways to keep the memory intact. You can come across various drugs that claim to improve memory loss. But instead of following the drugs, it is better to follow a proper diet for improving memory loss. Moreover, the foods do not come with any side effects and contradictions. Foods that contain antioxidants, vitamins, Omega 3 and iron are known to improve memory loss.  It has been established that the foods that contain antioxidants not only improve the immune system but also enhances the brain’s activities.

Vitamins are also known to be helpful in improving memory. Try to include Vitamin B, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E in the diet as they boost the memory and concentration power.  It is known that B complex vitamins increase the production of red blood cells, which transports oxygen to the brain and other parts.  Try to include whole grains, berries, leafy greens, brown rice, milk and red meats, which are rich in B complex vitamins.

While Vitamin B12 and Vitamin B6 are good protectors of the nervous system, Vitamin C is known to prevent certain health conditions that determine memory loss. Vitamin E protects cells and prevents destruction of fatty acids. This vitamin also helps in improving the circulation and also in repairing damaged cells.  Memory and fish are related as fishes are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. The Omega 3 fatty acids contain EPA and DHA, which are known to build nerve tissues.  Some fish like Sardine contain polyunsaturated fats that are considered good for memory.

Another important aspect that one has to include in his diet are foods that contain high amounts of iron. This element is a determining factor in maintaining concentration. Studies have shown that school children with iron deficiency performed poorly. It was also seen that these students had difficulty in learning, thinking and recalling. Well, include whole grain cereals, beef, breads, raisins and dried apricots in the diet that supplies iron.

Though eating more sugar is considered unhealthy, it helps in improving memory loss. Glucose, a variety of sugar is needed by the brain to function properly. Studies have shown that glucose if taken in the right proportion can improve memory loss as well as increase other brain conditions like thinking, learning and recalling. It has been seen that sugar is good for older people to arrest memory loss. Well, if glucose is taken in excess, it can affect the brain and memory.  Your diet may include blueberries, cantaloupe, asparagus, kale, black currants and sweet potatoes, which help in boosting energy, improving blood circulation and overall improving memory and other brain conditions. It is also good to include tomatoes, watermelon, cherries, and strawberries, red cabbage and radishes in the diet.

Eating a healthy food that contains vitamins and nutrients helps in improving memory loss. Rather than going after the drugs, which claim to improve memory loss, it is always better to have a healthy diet for good memory and concentration.
