Most of them are not conscious of the problem. Others do not know how to Cure Bad Breath because they cannot diagnose what causes bad breath. First of all you must understand about the bad breathe indicators that we can notice and experience in our contacts with others daily.

  • Do you sense a bad taste in your mouth frequently?
  • Did others tell you about your bad breath when you talk?
  • Do some of your friends step back while talking from near you?
  • Do you sea a white or yellow coating on your tongue?
  • Did anyone offer you mints or chewing gum, specifically?

Your one answer confirmation to the above questions means you are suffering from bad breath so you must cure your bad breath.

Now you must know what causes bad breath. Many people confuse it with digestion or intestinal problem and try diagnosing it accordingly. You must be very clear that bad breath originates in the mount and throat only. The bacteria grow around the teeth, in the plaque on the tongue at times in upper throat and generate bad breath. This particular bacteria is called Anaerobic Bacteria that produces smelly Sulfur compound that combines with proteins to cause bad breath. The possible reasons could be:

  1. Gum disease
  2. Tooth Decay
  3. No dental hygiene care
  4. Dentures
  5. Mouth Bacteria
  6. Throat infection
  7. moking
  8. Metal accumulation
  9. Drugs
  10. Diseases like lung abscess, cancer, diabetes, liver disease, etc.
  11. Plaque on tongue inhibiting excessive bacteria
  12. Alcoholic drinks, tobacco chewing, onion food, garlic – (need cleansing after eating)
  13. Alcohol based mouth washes before sleep.
  14. Vitamin B and or Zinc deficiency can cause bad breath

Bad breath goes on un-cured and un-noticed with millions of people suffering from it. This is the result of bad habit of not cleaning teeth after meals and particularly before sleep. The morning tooth wash can be delayed till after the breakfast. Unfortunately there was no scientific proper approach for diagnosing and treating bad breath or “Halitosis” condition as bad breath is technically called.

The common with chewing gums, mints, mouthwashes, mouth sprays and intestinal cleansing are inadequate and ignoring the actual cause that produces bad breath.

Cure Bad Breath – Guidelines for home treatment

  • The teeth should be washed after all meals but specially when going to sleep and in the morning. You must not forget to brush when you drink milk or products made from it and meat or fish.
  • The tooth brush should be kept clean and replaced at quicker intervals.
  • When you brush your teeth, do not forget to brush your tongue also.
  • Regular brushing and regular flossing will reduce / rid bad breath.
  • Use baking soda dissolved in warm water to wash your tongue and to reduce the acidity in the mouth. More acidity in the mouth will make the bacteria comfortable and flourish.
  • Alcohols and dyes should never be used for mouth wash.
  • Mouth washes with ingredients like Chlorine Dioxide, Sodium Chloride, cetylpyridinium chloride or zinc are antibacterial agents. These can control anaerobic bacteria in the mouth that produces the bad breath.
  • Chew herbs slowly and allow slivia to build up in mouth. The beneficial herbs are: Coriander, Basil, Rosemary, Parsley, Thyme, Wintergreen, Cinnamom bark, Cardamom seeds, Anise seeds, Clove and fermel. These are breath freshers.
  • Drink plenty of water through out the day.
  • Before going to sleep rinse your mouth with a glass of water with half lemon juice.
  • International Association on Dental Research has advised the bad breath patients to eat plain yogurt for continuous 6 weeks. Plain yogurt reduces the smelly compounds that the bacteria produces by 80% and cures bad breath. A very easy and convenient way to refresh your breath.
  • You can and must talk to your doctor if bad condition still persists. The peridontist can further check your gums and teeth to track the real cause of bad breath.
  • Follow the good oral hygiene rules. You will never suffer any problem like bad breath. The rules are simple. Just keep your tongue and teeth clean. Take care to clean teeth by using proper brush. Use correct brushing techniques that will not injure your gums and also save tooth enamel.

Bad Breath – Damaging home cures

The American Academy of Peridontology has cautioned to avoid most infective remedies or home treatments.

These cannot remove the root cause of bad breath except momentary relief. Some of these causes more harm to the body system and cause injuries needing complicated treatments later.

  • Alcohol based mouth wash used extensively.
  • Martinis, Vodka or sour mash whisky as these dry the mouth.
  • Chewing tobacco and chewing gum continuous use.
  • Rinsing with Kerosene.
  • Piercing the tongue will increase bacteria strength.
  • Brushing with household cleanser. Avoid as it contains poisonous chemicals.
  • Intestinal cleaning. Bad breath originates in mouth and not in stomach or intestine. So offers no help.
