It’s a real dilemma for many to decide whether they should undergo HIV testing or not, but now things have become quite easier, especially, with the availability of Home HIV Test Kit as these kits serve the best to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of your test.

However, many people are of the view: “Why they should go for HIV test?”

In fact, there are several reasons to have HIV testing and particularly for those people who are leading a sexually active life and can’t restrict themselves only to one reliable partner. HIV testing is also quite important for many other reasons. For instance, it is important for the people who are about to bind in a new relation, who are sexually assaulted and those who are quite habitual to have sexual intercourse without condom. HIV testing can save you and your loved one too. Even if someone use condom in sexual activities, one shouldn’t consider oneself safe as, condoms often prove unreliable and break during intercourse.

Chile’s health minister Maria Soledad Barria resigned after a hospital failed to tell many patients that they had tested positive for HIV.

She said that Chile government was putting a lot of efforts to improve the health service and she didn’t want to be an obstacle.

Mr Barria also dismissed many staff members of the said hospital before resigning.

Barria was appointed as health minister in 2006 and she is also known as a close friend President Michelle Bachelet.

According to a government spokesman, President Bachelet has accepted Barria’s resignation and appointed the Deputy Health Minister, Jeanette Vega as a new health minister.

Ms Barria said that she was resigning so that those political accusations could be set aside that seek to throw mud at a system which was good.

HIV may emerge again from a single cell, new findings suggest

The way AIDS virus brings itself back to life after the use of powerful drugs wasn’t less than a mystery for medical researchers.

But now a new study says that HIV can lie dormant inside some cells (it can be even a single cell) until emerging again to cause destruction.

Huldrych Gunthard, a researcher at University Hospital Zurich, in Switzerland, who is co-author of the study says that their findings are indeed good news, as they suggest that virus doesn’t replicate itself when dormant.

Such drugs are available in the market since the mid-1990s that allow many AIDS patients to decrease the level of the virus in their blood to zero, but the disease remains incurable. Gunthard says that the virus can hide itself in the lymphatic system, bone marrow, brain and in other places in the body.

Increasing HIV infection rates in Australia

Now it seems true that no sex is really better than bad sex

According to a report, there is almost 50% increase in HIV infection rates in Australia during the past eight years.

The figures show that more than 27,000 people in Australia are infected with HIV and there are almost 10,000 new cases of Aids.

The researchers believe that this increase is a result of Australia’s mining boom as wealthy miners and businessmen spend holidays overseas and get infected through unprotected sex.

Though HIV cases are relatively low in Australia (if compared to international standards), the researchers are seeing a disturbing upward trend.

Don Baxter, who is director of the Australian Federation of Aids Organization, says that the growing numbers of new positive HIV cases are occurring not only in homosexual men but also in heterosexuals.
