Asthma makes the airways to narrow thereby decreasing the flow of air to the lungs. The airways become swollen and sensitive and begin to react to all substances that are breathed in.

Swelling of airways make them more narrow. Asthma also causes difficulty in breathing. Asthma has become a common disease among children and teens.

Sometimes the symptoms of asthma are mild and can be cured after treatment. In other cases where the symptoms get even more intense and worse an asthma attack may occur.

The attack can be mild, moderate, severe and very severe. Therefore it is necessary that the symptoms are taken into consideration at the beginning stage itself.

Though the exact causes of asthma are not known it has been told that a combination of factors actually result in Asthma. These may include the following:

Sudden on set of this condition and disappearance within a period of two weeks can be classified as acute one. In some of the cases it requires no treatment. Every adult is coming across this type of diarrhea in their adult life and especially children too.

Diarrhea is caused by so many factors and it is mainly because of the viral or bacterial infection. In some of the cases it is not possible to diagnose since it vanishes within a short period. Generally the symptom starts from 8 hrs and within 3 days after taking an infected food either in solid or liquid form. This disorder usually lasts for 3 to 7 days. Diarrhea is not only pertaining to infection but also caused by several causes like anti-biotic side effects, food allergies and in certain gastro-intestinal conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel syndrome.

Often, a mild form of this disease is en-countered and in such cases the patient feels somewhat well and they will have only 2 to 3 time evacuation per day with no serious effects.

Diarrhea can be defined in many ways. 1. Frequent and unusual bowel movement with watery evacuations of fecal matter. 2. Decreased consistency resulting in frequent movement of bowel and watery stool.3. Increased bowel movement and decrease in the form of stool.4. It is just opposite to constipation in movement of bowel and nature of stool formation.

Normal frequency of evacuation may be three times a day and accepted average weight of fecal matter is 300 grams per day. The frequency more than 3 times and weights more than 300gms comes under the category of diarrhea.

In diarrhea the weight gain of the stool is obtained by the stool by having more parts of water. Diarrhea must be distinguished from hyper defecation. Diarrhea may arise either by infectious or non-infectious causes.

Diarrhea is classified based on the duration of the disease one is called acute form and it lasts for one or two weeks. Another one is called as chronic form and it lasts for more than two weeks to several months. Acute form is commonly caused by viral and bacterial infection.

Diarrhea in children includes other causes like foods that are not easily digestible and partially cooked food like meat and fish can also cause diarrhea. Generally diarrhea affecting children goes away spontaneously by helping the child with enough fluid. Anti diarrheal and any specific tests are not needed to find out the cause.

Most of the children are affected only by short period diarrhea (acute type). Rotavirus is the one common virus affecting children usually below two years. Other common viruses are Norwalk and adenovirus. The main symptom of the rotavirus diarrhea is watery stool, fever, vomiting, and stomach pain. The usual transmission of this virus is through fecal-oral route.  Diarrhea lasts up to two weeks and the associated symptoms disappear within few days. No effective medication is available so far but it is controlled by preventing dehydration. There are tests to find out this virus by identifying the rotavirus antigens in the stool.

Chronic Cough Home Remedies

Cough that produced by acid reflux can be treated with lifestyle changes. This can be cured by eating smaller quantity frequently but more by several times. This smaller quantity in several times will discourage the stomach from acid secretion and thereby discouraged acid reflux and related reflux cough. Fatty foods encourage more acid secretion and hence lean protein is safer. A healthy food is to be identified in practice to reduce the reflux induced cough. Fast food must be avoided wherever possible since the spicy materials are also causing hyperacidity. Triggering factors of acid reflux such as alcohol, fried foods, mint and chocolate should be avoided. Lying down to bed must be postponed after meals until a comfort feeling of stomach is achieved. Pillows while sleeping has to be raised above to avoid reflux. Over all body weight must be checked periodically to monitor the weight gain. Weight gain is an indication of relieving from the chronic cough.

Certain cough suppressants help in control over the cough and they merely do not take any curative part in controlling the underlying causes. This includes camphor or menthol chest rubs, cough syrups containing cough controlling drugs, bronchodilators and mucolytic. Honey with hot water or tea also will give instant relief.
