Posted: March 25th 2009 By editor1         under: Health News     Tags: , , , , ,

A recent survey has shown that despite of paying taxes which are being used by American Government health programs, the US workers are deprived of health insurance. One of the factors is the sky rising private health insurance premiums as compared to the wages of workers with no increase.

It was found that almost 1 in 5 workers had no insurance which was a noticeable increase as compared to past. On the other hand all retired people are sheltered by healthy care, and around 90 percent of children have got health insurance, only the workers are at a greater risk of having no insurance than in the 1990s, the last time when lawmakers tried a health care overhaul.

The underlying problem is the cost. Because the total premiums for employer plans have gone up six to eight times faster than the wages they are getting, and it depends on whether individual or family coverage is chosen, the researchers found. And adults are not provided with safety-net programs, he further added.
